Veteran comedian Gibson “Arineshto” Nhema has teamed up with his erstwhile sidekick Norman “Mr Crazy” Mutoo to produce a new comedy titled “Nhapitapi”. The story is a jibe at the pursuit of pleasure or “nhapitapi” at all costs, and the biggest moral lesson is that a greedy person always ends up miserable in the end.
Mutoo stars as “Show them Sho” who is a mischievous and scheming middle-aged former engineer whose big dream in life is to acquire funds that will enable him to build an a plane.
When he wins a lottery the engineer temporarily abandons his family and decides to spend some quality time with his “girlfriend” at a hotel, which turns out into a nightmare as she invites a gang of robbers to steal his money after accusing him of having an affair with a married woman.
Through tears of joy, sorrow and fast paced action the viewer is taken on a journey of near peril in this rib-shattering comedy.
Arineshto features as Boss Zhu.
The film also highlights the issues of bogus prophets and traditional healers who promise people material wealth but end up being assaulted and exposed after their remedies fail to achieve desired results.
The comedy was written by Mutoo and directed by Larry Mutasa who also acted in the film “Choice” in 2009 which went on to win the Best Cinematography Award at a ceremony in Nigeria in the same year.
“We were inspired by the rise of such comedies like Sabhuku Vharazipi who made us want to compete and show Zimbabweans that we are established and talented enough to win international awards,” said Nhema.
