TWO gun-wielding robbers pounced on a shop in Chivi, Masvingo and went away with cell phones and cash worth $127, police confirmed yesterday.
Acting Masvingo police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nkululeko Nduna said the robbers used an iron bar to open the door before gaining entry on Tuesday around 2AM.
He said the owner of the shop, Simon Manhanga, 21, of Uravhi Business Centre was asleep in the shop when the robbers struck.
“Upon their entry, one of them produced a firearm before ordering Manhanga to remain lying down,” said Asst Insp Nduna.

He said the one who was armed stood guard at the door while his accomplice who was not armed demanded cell phones and cash.

“The robbers took two cell phones, a Nokia 2700 classic and Huawei 1270, all worth $100 and cash amounting to $27 before disappearing into darkness.
“The suspects are on the run but police have since launched a manhunt and the long arm of the law will soon catch up with them,” Asst Insp Nduna.
He said a report was made at Chivi Police Station.
