ARMED robbers pounced at a church in Belvedere, Harare, on Sunday and stole US$8000 and a vehicle.

The eight armed robbers raided Spoken Word Ministries and found Tinotenda Mujumi, 30, praying at around 2am.

The robbers jumped over a pre-cast wall, confronted Tinotenda and pointed pistols at her.

They ordered her to show them where the guard was.

They tied her together with the Valcome Security guard, Cosmas Tapererwa, 60.

Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case.

“Police are investigating an armed robbery at a church in Belvedere,” said Insp Chakanza.

“The robbers located the safe, broke it and stole about US$8000.

“They went on to demand car keys from one of the church members found praying, forcibly took them away from her and drove her white Toyota IST (ACT 8786).

“Total value stolen is US$11000 and nothing was recovered,” said Insp Chakanza.
