ZIMBABWE National Army (ZNA) held the Recruits Intake Sports Gala finals over the weekend at Imbizo Barracks.
The curtain came down on the event on Saturday after a week long sporting extravaganza at Bulawayo recruits headquarters with Fox Company been crowned champions.
Recruits competed in five military and seven non- military events during the sports gala.
Non-military disciplines included athletics, soccer, netball, boxing, basketball, volleyball and tug-of-war.
In the military event there was drill, march and shoot, assault course, log race and test on elementary training (toets).
They were six recruits companies Charlie, Delta, Alpha, Bravo, Echo and Fox.
Delta company scooped the first prize in athletics, drills and tug of war while in basketball and netball it was Echo, boxing and toets was won by Bravo,
The Fox company was crowned the best overall after scooping first position in four disciplines volleyball, soccer, march and shoot and log race.
Winners in non-military disciplines activities walked away with $90 and shields while in military events there was a shield and $100 up for grabs.
Fox for being the best overall were awarded a floating shield, a goat and $200.
Each company received prizes for their efforts in every discipline with second place scooping $70, third $60, fourth $40 while fifth and sixth got $30 and $20 respectively.
The outstanding female athlete was Serepia Chikerema from Fox, while in the male’s category Darlington Magiya of Delta company was the toast of the tournament.
In netball best shooter of the tournament was Shorai Mutikido of Echo while Chudu Gloria of Fox was crowned player of the tournament.
