POLICE in Kwekwe have scored big in their clampdown on illegal weapons after arresting a 40-year-old man found smuggling a Rambo style cache of offensive arms into the city.
The dramatic bust happened on 27 August during an ongoing operation code-named “No to illegal firearms, toy guns, dangerous weapons and smuggling.”
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest of Kiran Naran, who was cornered in the Kwekwe CBD while in possession of a small armoury.

Among the seized items were an SP500 black barrel pistol, an Atumers rifle fitted with a scope, pellet guns, okapi knives, axes, pepper spray, electric shockers, and rifle telescopes.
“The suspect was found smuggling offensive weapons and failed to produce proper documents for the items. He was immediately arrested, and investigations are underway,” Comm Nyathi said in a statement.
Police have since urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue tipping off authorities about suspicious dealings in weapons, warning that illegal possession fuels violent crime in communities.
Naran is expected to appear in court soon, facing serious charges linked to smuggling and unlawful possession of dangerous weapons.
