Artisanal miner murdered in Shurugwi

A 22-year-old artisanal miner died after being severely attacked by yet-to-be-identified assailants at Musasa Business Centre in Shurugwi on Thursday.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the murder of Tichaona Madzivire, who was from Edward Farm in Shurugwi.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a case of murder involving Tichaona Madzivire, whose lifeless body was discovered lying in a pool of blood at Musasa Business Centre in Shurugwi on Thursday at about 12:45am,” he said.

Inspector Mahoko said the informant, Isaac Jonasi, was about to park his vehicle near his shop when he discovered Madzivire’s body.

“A report was made to the police, and upon inspecting the body, it was discovered that there was a deep cut at the back of the head and a swollen forehead. Police also recovered a blood-stained log beside the body,” he stated.

Inspector Mahoko urged anyone with information leading to the arrest of the unknown suspects to contact the nearest police station.
