Artiste fuses urban grooves with house music

The album, titled Emaflatsini, features production from renowned city artistes Khuxxman, Mzoe, Mjoks and Vusa Hlatshwayo.

In an interview, Tomza said his blend of genres was all in the search of a groundbreaking new sound that would put his music on a different level to the rest of artistes from around the country. He said innovation was a key feature of the album as his wish was to take people by surprise.

“The album will see me mixing urban grooves and house music and this is because I want my music to be different to that of other artistes from around the country. I have a strong belief that experimentation with different sounds is the only guarantee of success,” he said.

Tomza said that his songs had been well received thus far, as the people were impressed by his music which they thought matched the standard of music that came from beyond the country’s borders.

“People have shown great appreciation of my music and I am very happy with that. People say they are surprised with the pace at which our music is now developing as we are now almost at par with the best music coming from South Africa,” he said.

Touching on his future ambitions, Mjoks said he hoped that he could rope in more young artistes from Bulawayo so that they could create much needed employment among youths.

“My plan is to combine with other artistes and create a record stable were we can go out there and search for young talented youths in the city. There is a lot of talent in Bulawayo and my ambition is to get the youths off the bridges were they idly sit doing nothing with their lives,” he said.

Tomza said fans would get the opportunity to hear his songs when he performs at New Age Dance Group’s 15th anniversary celebrations to be held at Nyathi Hall in Mpopoma.
