ME too!
Sex tape made me famous.
Relatively a newbie in hip-hop circles, Philathu Nkiwane believes his sex tape, more than his lyrical ability behind the microphone, has made him famous. Going by the stage name “Storm” the artiste says there are more downloads of his music, thanks to his sex antics.
“It’s not always that people will resent you when you have a sex tape. People gained more interest in my life after they found out that I was an upcoming artiste. They began demanding my music,” said Nkiwane.
Nkiwane says there’s nothing like bad publicity.
“You know all publicity is good whether negative or positive, I chose to look at the brighter side and push my music and that was the best time I could do that. I was all over the internet, I saw it as an opportunity to be famous for the right thing,” he said.
Apart from people downloading his music the youngster says he got booked for some gigs as well.
“People did not only download my music but I got booked for a few gigs which wouldn’t have happened if the sex tape hadn’t blown up that way,” he added.
Nkiwane broke the internet two weeks ago after a video of him and a female companion performing a sexual act was leaked. The woman in the sex act is reported to be a university student while the artiste said he had dropped out of school and is now pursuing music.
The muso said he was not proud of the leak but since the damage was already done he could only stay positive.
“I’m not really proud of what happened but there is nothing I can do about it. The deed was done and I realised it brought in more good to my career than harm,” he said.
In his latest song Friendzone the young rapper speaks on how girls view good guys as friends and bad boys as potential lovers. The rappers also penned an Extended Playlist (EP) which consists of eight tracks.
