LOCAL up-and-coming musicians will battle it out for a shot at fame on Saturday at the Star Open Mic finals to be held at Bulawayo Theatre.
The winner of the competition will walk away with a recording deal worth $2,500 and a distribution deal courtesy of Ambush Marketing and De-Grape-Vine.
The director of the competition, Teeko Kasomali, said registration would continue until the day of the competition which is not biased towards any particular genre of music.
“We have had a positive response from aspiring musicians. This is an opportunity for them to market themselves and possibly launch their music careers,” he said.
Kasomali said there were two studios in Bulawayo that were ready to work with the winner of the competition.
“There is P2daoh and First Class Music that are willing to work with the artistes. So they choose who they want to work with and thereafter De-Grape-Vine and Ambush Marketing takes over distributing the album to people,” he said.
The judges at the show will be Sarah Mpofu and Naboth Rizla Ramayi from De-Grape-Vine.
The Star Open Mic Set is open to all citizens of Zimbabwe.
All individuals who are below the legal age should get their guardians’ signature on the registration form and bring it to the auditions.
