These are Sandra Ndebele, Mahendere Brothers, Cde Chinx, Kireni Zulu, Alick Macheso, Chase Skuza, Amai naBaba Charamba, Tryson Chimbetu, Mokis Connection, Leonard Zhakata, Kapfupi, Nicholas Zakaria, Gift Amuli and Progress Chipfumo.
This event is going to be held at the White City Stadium from Saturday evening till Sunday. Fans will have an opportunity to see surprises as there will be some up-and-coming artistes who have never performed at such an event.
The organisers of this year’s event are treating the gala as an early Christmas present to all music lovers around the country as they will have an opportunity to see Zimbabwean talent for free.
Up-and-coming artistes who have been included in this year’s line-up include Mbare Chimurenga Choir, ZCC Mbungo, 1st Street Band and Chimbetu.
Last year, the Unity Gala was staged in Mutare. Many of the country’s top performers such as the late Tongai Moyo, Ndebele, Iyasa, Stunner, Kapfupi and Born Free Crew performed.
The gala is meant to mark the signing of the Unity Accord Accord in song and dance. President Mugabe of Zanu-PF and the late Dr Joshua Nkomo of PF-Zapu signed the Unity Accord on 22 December
1987. The Unity Accord brought unity among all Zimbabweans, creating an enabling environment for them to work in peace for the development of the country.
December 22 is also a national holiday.
