PLANET Kadder Academy, an arts organisation based in Gwanda, is on a mission to scale up its arts development drive by nurturing talent from kindergarten.

Spearheaded by Profience “Kadder” Cadder, the founder of the organisation and a full-time facilitator at Genesis ECD Centre, the initiative aims to equip young kids with arts expertise at a very tender age.

In an interview with Chronicle Showbiz, Kadder reiterated her love for ensuring that arts is a career built from the grassroots level.

“I am now a full time facilitator at Genesis ECD Centre where I am making it a must to ensure that they are schooled enough about arts and are trained fully in their skills. The intention being to broaden their minds and keep them occupied because as you know, an idle mind is the devil’s lair,” said Kadder.

She stated that the children were able to display their artwork at the recent Matabeleland South Agricultural Show.

“We recently performed at the 64th Edition of the Matabeleland South Agricultural Show Society with Genesis ECD learners. They were aged between four and six. The act was a fusion of an army drill, gymnastics, music, dance and poetry.

“It was an honour for the kids to perform in front of respected people like the Environment Minister, Matabeleland South Provincial Minister, the Mayor or Gwanda and a number of senior Government officials,” said Kadder.

According to Kadder, they are also in the process of teaching the children life skills in order to boost their adaptability.

“Last week Friday we went to Pizza Inn for a kids Masterclass whereby the young children got to experience a bit about culinary arts.

“This is a way of giving them an open field in terms of various arts fields to tap into depending on their talent and their liking,” she said. —@mthabisi_mthire
