increasingly becoming a major art festival in the region.
It has a unique concept of showcasing different artworks from across the globe.
This year, Zimbabwe would be co-hosting the event as part of its preparatory initiatives to learn a few concepts, which it tends to develop when Zimbabwe co-host yet another carnival in the next few months.
The carnival would be part of the build up to the United Nations World Tourism Conference set for August this year.
Zimbabwe Tourism Authority spokesperson Mr Sugar Chagonda said Zimbabwe’s decision to co-organise the event was necessitated by the need to learn new concepts which would be developed into broad based cultural events.
“We have been participating in this event for the past three years and have managed to identify areas of co-operation and concepts which fall within the scope of our project.
“We have also realized that much as we have been participating at this event with other countries across the world, our tourism and cultural brand is of high quality judging by the number of accolades we have been getting every year since we started participating.”
Last year, Zimbabwe won an award for mounting a high quality exhibition including arts and cultural performances from different genres.
This year, dendera ace Sulumane Chimbetu and the Orchestra Dendera Kings would perform for the first time during the three-day art fete.
Sulu would be performing on a slot that had become a preserve of traditional dance groups and other ensembles of similar nature.
Apart from the musical events, the three day event, dubbed “Seychelles La Reunion Zimbabwe” would be characterized by dance, food fairs, animation events, soca parties, open air discos and carnival parades.
