A TEENAGER has been sentenced to 15 years in jail for raping his teenage girlfriend at his home in Banket.
While the sex in March last year was consensual, the teenager was charged and convicted of raping his 15-year-old girlfriend.
The girl was in Form 3 when the two had sex.
The accused appeared before a Chinhoyi magistrate court and was charged with having sexual intercourse with a minor.
According to the State, sometime in March last year, the accused proposed love to the schoolgirl and she accepted the love proposal.
The court heard that later that month, the schoolgirl visited the accused at his home in Banket.
The two then had sexual intercourse on the same day.
