Hip-hop superstar Asaph is back in the city of Bulawayo and ready to work after successfully launching the first edition of his Vibe Culture initiative Asaph and Friends in Sandton, South Africa this past Saturday.
An intimate party affair held on the rooftop of the dazzling Black Brick, the elegant event was graced by the presence of various celebrities and media personalities including ZiFM Stereo’s Lady Kuda, who became one of the first radio personalities to hear Asaph’s upcoming EP “Feed The Streets”, as well as Asaph’s music fans both from Zimbabwe and South Africa, whom he affectionately regards as friends, thanks to their loyalty and well wishes for his craft.

It was a fun-filled chill fest with Asaph engaging in various card and board games with his friends while trading stories and business ideas over drinks, food, and music.
“The idea was to bring a group of my friends together into a comfortable sharing and networking space where new ideas could be born while having fun together in the name of music. A lot of great moves were set in motion with new connections being made and new friends being added to the list,” Asaph said.
Prominent business people and influencers congregated on one rooftop pledging their support and well wishes for the brand Asaph and his music, backed by interviews with DStv’s Channel Africa, and collaboration opportunities with artists across various genres.
To top off the night, Asaph graced his friends with a surprise listening session of his upcoming EP “Feed The Streets”, giving a hybrid performance of the music as it played in the background and entertaining the guests with the stories behind the music as they vibed.

Track after track got rave reviews from the guests with a couple being flagged by Lady K as radio bangers including the title track “Feed The Streets”; “No Love”; “Like Me” and “Whoa”.
“I got to meet several of my icons through this experience including the amazing TV and radio personality Loot Love, Kgomotso Christopher, and Number Number actor Sdumo Mtshali. So for me, Asaph and Friends was also about showing myself and my fellow artistes that we’re not only limited to our own backyard and country, but we can reach out to the world and beyond,” Asaph added.

“It’s a very humbling experience for me when I walk down the street in a foreign country and a complete stranger recognises me. Even more so when an artiste wants to collaborate because they like my sound and its uniqueness. So the idea of collaborations with all these artists from beyond our border gives me hope that we’re doing something right”, Asaph said.
The future editions of Asaph and Friends will thus keep the dynamic of not being limited to Bulawayo only, but branch out to various cities and countries across Africa and beyond with the next one being planned for the end of July soon after hosting the premiere of Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One at Ster-Kinekor Bulawayo on 14 July.
