ZIMBABWEAN Daniel Msendami whose Botswana side Jwaneng Galaxy will be playing against Ivory Coast giants and one time winners Asec Mimosa, yesterday said today’s Caf Champions League match is a must win if they are to keep their qualification hopes to the next stage alive.
It will be the fourth match of the tournament and they play a side which defeated them 2-0 at home in their previous and last match of the first round of group matches. Msendami acknowledged the magnitude of the work they have to put in, but also said that he believes in his teammates.
“We are playing against people who put two past us without reply in our home ground, away from home. It is a very difficult task ahead of us but there is no excuse, we have to simply win that match if we are to have a chance in this tough group.
“I believe in my team, it is something we can actually achieve if we stick together as a team,” said Msendami.
Jwaneng Galaxy have four points from their first three matches. The three points came from a surprise 1-0 victory against initial group favourites and three time champions Wydad Casablanca away from home. They drew 0-0 with AS Simba in their second match at home before suffering the potentially damaging 2-0 loss to Asec Mimosa at home.
Victory will take them to seven points and potentially to the top of Group B with two matches remaining before the round of 16.
The bottom two sides Wydad and Simba will also clash in Tanzania.
Progression to the next round would be a historic feat for Msendami and his club respectively.
