THE assault case in which Allied Security founder and director Mr Bekezela Moyo alleges he was attacked by two Pottery Industries employees is set to be concluded on Thursday, almost a year after it first appeared before the courts amid a series of delays.

The matter, involving Liam Farley Pieterson (28) and his father, John Farley Pieterson, has been before the courts since July last year and is expected to reach its conclusion when proceedings resume before a Bulawayo magistrate.

The two are facing assault charges stemming from an incident that allegedly occurred at Pottery Industries in Belmont.

According to court records, the incident took place on July 16, 2025, when Mr Moyo visited the company premises to inquire why one of his employees, who was providing security services at the site, had allegedly been barred from carrying out his duties.

The State alleges that upon his arrival at the premises along Chester Road, Belmont, an altercation ensued during which Mr Moyo was assaulted.

Prosecutors contend that John Pieterson allegedly pushed Mr Moyo, while Liam Pieterson allegedly grabbed him from behind and forcibly escorted him out of the premises before the pair allegedly assaulted him with fists.

The State further alleges that Mr Moyo sustained injuries during the incident.

In earlier proceedings, prosecutors also alleged that a voice note was subsequently circulated accusing Mr Moyo of armed robbery.

The allegations are, however, denied by the accused persons.

The matter has undergone several postponements over the past months as the court heard evidence and dealt with procedural issues.

With the trial now at its final stages, Thursday’s proceedings are expected to pave the way for the conclusion of a case that has attracted significant interest within Bulawayo’s business community, given Mr Moyo’s profile as the founder of one of the city’s leading security companies.

The court is expected to hear the remaining submissions before bringing the matter to a close.
