A 39-year-old Harare man who fatally assaulted a would-be car thief he apprehended at his Waterfalls home has been charged with murder.
Nicholas Chiname appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Donald Ndirowei, who remanded him in custody to June 13 and advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.

Prosecutor Ms Sharon Mashavire alleged that at around 3am on May 27, Isaac Mushambi unlawfully entered Chiname’s yard with the intention of stealing a car.

Chiname was awoken by some noises and went out to investigate. He spotted the intruder, gave chase and assaulted Mushambi with an unknown weapon.

Mushambi is alleged to have died as a result of the assault.
