Aston Villa player exits on horizon

Aston Villa recorded 12 efforts on Alisson’s goal last night but were wasteful in good areas as Liverpool prevailed 3-1 on Boxing Day. In truth, Villa shot themselves in the foot having gone 2-0 down at the break despite creating some clear-cut chances of their own.

The result left Unai Emery somewhat raging given points were there had Villa been more ruthless in attack. It’s Tottenham next up on New Year’s Day with the squad back in at Bodymoor Heath today for recovery and a debrief looking ahead to their upcoming Spurs fixture.

Here, BirminghamLive’s Aston Villa correspondent Ashley Preece will host today’s live Q&A with supporters from 9am onwards talking all things AVFC. We’re now close to the January transfer window opening with Emery already confirming there’s business to be done following talks with Villa’s hierarchy. Where do Villa need strengthening? Is the current crop capable of a big push towards Europe in the second half of the season?

What about the futures of Ludwig Augustinsson, Marvelous Nakamba and Morgan Sanson with all three left out of the squad against Liverpool? Does Philippe Coutinho have a long-term future at Villa Park?

From on-field matters to stadium plans and the academy, get in touch in the comments section and post your question for Ashley who’ll be on hand to answer each and every question. You can also scroll down to the bottom of this article to start the discussion. – Birmingham Mail
