ATAF, Leiden University unveil PhD scholarship for African tax officials

THE African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) has joined hands with Leiden University of Netherlands to provide scholarship support for African tax officials as part of efforts to capacitate the region’ efforts to tackle complex tax issues and increase revenue generation for members states.

Zimbabwean tax officials are eligible as the country is a member of ATAF, a regional tax lobby organisation that works closely with ministries of finance and revenue authorities across Africa.
“The African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) Tax Academy, in collaboration with GLOBTAXGOV project of Leiden University, are pleased to invite qualified tax officials from African revenue administrations to submit Expressions of Interest for PhD studies at Leiden University,” said ATAF in a latest statement.
“Professor Mosquera Valderrama is the lead researcher of the GLOBTAXGOV project carried out at Leiden Law School, Leiden University.”

ATAF has said that prospective candidates should take note that the PhD studies will be carried out as an external PhD.
“Therefore, the candidate will be undertaking a PhD while continuing with his/her work. There is no tuition fee to be paid at Leiden University, but also there will be no payment made by Leiden University to the PhD candidate,” said ATAF.
