TWO Zimbabwe athletics relay teams will vie for qualification in Saturday’s Lefika Relays in Gaborone, Botswana on Saturday afternoon.

Zimbabwe is competing in the mixed 4x100m and men’s 4x400m relays.

The athletes have the May World Relays to be hosted by Botswana on sight.

Rutendo Vushe, Samukeliso Ndebele, Methembe Tshuma and Daniel Magogo will run the mixed 4x100m and the 4x400m has Gerren Muwishi, Denis Hove, Leeford Zuze and Thandazani Ndlovu.

The 4x100m team is keen to run under 43 seconds while the 4x400m team has a tall order trying to improve its time. Last week in Lesotho they ran 3 minutes 03.55 seconds which cumulatively from last year’s world times leaves them at 24th worldwide despite running the best time by a nation this year.

Apart from the World Relays, athletes are bidding to be included in the Zimbabwe team for the Africa Senior Track and Field Championships in Ghana this May.
