Athletics Coaches Seminar set for Northlea

THE National Athletics Associations of Zimbabwe will hold an International Coaches Seminar on Talent Identification, nurturing and development at Northlea High School in Bulawayo.

The three-day event, which has attracted coaches from all over the country, will start on Friday and ends on Sunday.

Speaking in a telephone interview with The Sunday News from his base in Gwanda, NAAZ director of coaching and talent identification and recruitment, Lisimati Phakamile, said the seminar was crucial and will benefit the country’s national teams.

“Although it is a three-day session, 40-50 local coaches who are to partake will benefit therefore the national teams will be placed on advantage,” said Lisimati.

The participants will learn how to identify, nurture and then develop talent, said Lisimati.

While the name of the facilitator was yet to be confirmed, Lisimati said it might be a Germany-based International Association of Athletics Federations tutor.

“The main speaker is a Germany IAAF tutor and his name is soon to be confirmed, we are expecting qualified coaches from all over Zimbabwe to attend,” added Lisimati.
