Athletics team off to Nigeria

ZIMBABWE’S team to participate at the Combined Under-18/Under-20 African  Championships left for Nigeria on Monday.

The competition is running from July 16 to 20 in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Zimbabwe are fielding 47 athletes and a number of them were in Namibia for the African Union Sports Council Region 5 Youth  Games.

The likes of Trey Chimunya, Cryson Kunorubwe, Tulange Mudenda, Martha Chipuriro, Nenyasha Chihora and Kimberly Kachambwa were some of the athletes that participated at the Region 5 Games and won medals.

The team is travelling in two batches. The first group, which left in the early hours of Monday morning, has since arrived in Nigeria.

The second group left late in the afternoon of the same day.
