AFRICA University dominated this year’s Miss 21st beauty pageant after two students made it into the crème de la crème at a glittering event held last Friday at Mutare Hall. 22-year old Iracelma De Fatima Dos Santos Cassule from Angola was crowned Miss 21st after she beat 12 other contestants, while Ratidzo Gwati (23) was the first princess.
Shalyn Coleen Soma (24) was crowned second princess, and Michelle Chamunorwa was Miss Personality. The elegant Cassule impressed judges, among them artiste, Henry Tsopotsa with her lanky stature and excellent presentation. She oozed with confidence as she glided on the ramp and was by far the most outstanding model.
The quartet is expected to represent Manicaland province at the Miss 21st national beauty contest scheduled for tonight in Masvingo.
“It was a tight contest. I am happy we managed to sail through. “We hope to represent our province well when we face other models from other provinces. “We know it will not be easy but we are ready for the battle,” said Gwati.
Local artistes, the likes of Charlie Nyz, Reflections and Kritic Igwee provided entertainment during the contest. Despite poorly marketed, the contest, which was fairly attended, lived up to billing.
