AU says Mali’s presidential elections free, fair

BAMAKO — The African Union (AU) observer mission has declared  Mali’s presidential elections a free and fair vote conducted in transparent conditions. The head of the observer mission, Edem Kodjo, on Tuesday congratulated the Malian people for coming out in large numbers and behaving in a responsible manner during the July 28 presidential elections.
“The mission also congratulates Mali’s territorial administration ministry and the National Independent Electoral Commission (CENI) for conducting the electoral process well,” Kodjo affirmed.

He also congratulated all the candidates for their sense of restraint during the entire electoral process.
He urged the candidates and their supporters to “wait for the results in the same spirit that they patiently waited for other electoral phases.”

The head of the AU observer mission urged those who will be dissatisfied with the outcome of the polls not to resort to violence, but to file complaints with the relevant authorities. — Xinhua.
