BINDURA-based Auckland Queens Football Club are finalising processing of work permits for their foreign duo, Lebogang Setereke and Refiloe Tshambani who joined the club at the beginning of this season.
Auckaland Queens head coach Jerrymike Gumbo said the two players joined the club on a season long deal but police clearances from their home country delayed their debut appearance in the local league.
“The girls have been with us since the beginning of the season in a year long deal but requirements for work permits delayed their debut at Auckaland,” said Gumbo.
Gumbo said he was hopeful that the arrival of the Botswana duo will give his side a competitive edge in the league.
Miriam Sibanda, the women’s soccer boss applauded teams in the Super League for taking football seriously and improving its standard.
“We are seeing some clubs who are showing a lot of commitment and seriousness in improving the standard of women’s soccer and that is pleasing.” said Sibanda.
“We should continue working together to improve women’s soccer as a whole,” said Sibanda.
This is Setereke’s second coming to Zimbabwe because the 23 yearold spent seven months at Cyclone last season while 20 year old Tshambani still waiting for her debut match on foreign land.
Both players rose through the junior national team structures and they are playing for their national side.
Back home, Setereke used to play for Gaborone-based Township Rollers and Tshambani played for Vicomates FC.
