Business Reporter
Internal auditors and board audit committee members from all sectors will meet in Victoria Falls from September 11 to 12 2014 for their annual conference and Annual General Meeting. The conference will run under the theme “Positioning Internal Audit for the Future”.

Institute of Internal Auditors Zimbabwe chief executive Mr Roy Bvekerwa said the conference will seek to provide today’s internal auditor with the information and knowledge to effectively contribute to their enterprises and the economy in general.

The keynote speaker will be Mr Douglas Mboweni, the chief executive of Econet Zimbabwe.

Mr Bvekerwa said Mr Mboweni is appropriate to be this year’s keynote speaker as he is the current director of the year under the Institute of Directors Zimbabwe.

“One of the key requirements for one to win the coveted award of director of the year is that their organisation must be strong in corporate governance.

“Internal auditors seek in their mandate to strengthen governance, risk management and internal controls. The internal auditors would be interested in hearing how Econet has achieved this feat in a country and economy with its share of stories of corporate failure through poor governance,” said Mr Bvekerwa.
