Aussies name squad for Zimbabwe tour

African country’s return from the doldrums, has been announced.
It will be the first tour by an Aussie cricket side in years since former Prime Minister John Howard vetoed a proposed tour by the country’s senior team to Harare on political grounds.
Howard, interestingly, visited Zimbabwe last year as he vainly battled to win the post of ICC president.
Zimbabwe, who return to Test cricket later this year, have already hosted the New Zealand A side.
The arrival of the Aussie A will mean that Zimbabwe Cricket now enjoys normal relations, in terms of tours, with all the cricket nations except England who still refuse to come to Harare.
Wicket-keeper Tim Paine will captain Australia A on their tour to Zimbabwe.
The Australian outfit will face Zimbabwe and South Africa A in a one-day tri-series before facing the hosts in two four-day encounters.
The squads contain a mixture of youth and experience, with youngsters Mitchell Marsh, James Faulkner and Nic Maddinson joined by more experienced campaigners the likes of Paine, Callum Ferguson and Ben Hilfenhaus.
Hilfenhaus will head to Zimbabwe with a point to prove having endured a poor Ashes series and a handful of niggling injuries of late.
The battle to fill Australia’s troublesome spin position continues, with Jason Krejza and Michael Beer both included in the four-day squad while Steve O‘Keefe and Nathan Lyon the limited over spinners.
