AUTHOR Steven James Danda has published yet another science fiction book titled “Orsello”.
Speaking to H-Metro, Danda said Orsello means son of a god and at the centre of this tale is a man, a genetic hybrid, called Orsello.
He said the book does not challenge Christianity but it rather it expands the perspective of an immensely powerful God.
“My desire is for people in Zimbabwe and the world to understand that we may not be alone in the vastness of the universe and the potential for intelligent life existing elsewhere is almost indisputable yet most do not seem to ponder the prospects.
“I faced almost immediate criticism when I presented my thinking on alien life and extra-terrestrial intelligence.
“People cannot fathom that God may have created life elsewhere, they feel that this is an unwarranted affront against their core and habitual religious beliefs, a travesty of high magnitude which may be deemed outright blasphemy in some circles.
“Then, there were people who felt that Zimbabwe and the developing world are not ready for such type of literature but I realised that it is not my duty to present ‘people-ready’ literature but to make people ready for literature,” he said.
Danda hopes that his book Orsello will be turned into a movie and will be one of the first best-selling Zimbabwean Sci-Fi movies.
He has already published Orseca, Orsellin and Phoenix Rising and is currently working on two other projects, which will be on the markets, soon.
