Authors yesterday poured their condolence messages for the late writer Sharai Mukonoweshuro. Mukonoweshuro succumbed to cancer on Sunday. Known for penning books like “Akafuratidzwa Moyo”, “Ndakagara Ndazviona” and “Ndakakutadzirei”, the author was described as a humble person.
Aaron Chiundura-Moyo described her as a person with humility and hard worker.
“I knew her some time back when she scooped an award ahead of me. From that time we started sharing notes with her,” said Moyo.
He added that during the time they shared ideas, the author showed great wisdom and humility.
Memory Chirere said although he had not worked with the Mukonoweshuro directly, her works inspired him.
“I started reading her work while I was young and her novel ‘Akafuratidzwa Moyo’ highlighted to me the relationship between a mother and her daughter-in-law,” said Chirere.
Josephine Muganhiwa said it was a great loss to the arts industry because she was one of the pioneers.
“It is a great loss to the industry because she is one of the pioneers and most of us got the inspiration from her,” she said.
Chairperson of the Zimbabwe International Book Fair Musaemura Zimunya said they received the news with great shock.
At the time of her death Mukonoweshuro was a pastor with Zaoga.
