Zimbabwe’s automobile sector is expressing renewed optimism that the mining and construction industries will underpin its growth in the coming years, as the two sectors continue to show resilience and attract investment despite broader economic challenges.
This sentiment was evident at this year’s Mine Entra — the annual Mining, Engineering, and Transport Expo — which opened on Tuesday at the Zimbabwe International Conference and Exhibition Smart City (ZICES). The event, which runs until October 10, has drawn more than 240 exhibitors, including vehicle suppliers, equipment manufacturers, and major mining houses such as Zimasco, Unki Mine, Hwange Colliery Company, PPC, Sino Cement, and Blanket Mine.
Among the companies participating is Suzuki Zimbabwe, whose Bulawayo Branch Manager, Mr. Sipho Ndebele, said the exhibition provides a critical link between the transport and mining industries.
“Mine Entra offers a space for meaningful engagement with industry stakeholders,” Mr Ndebele said.
“It allows us to better understand sector needs and explore where our vehicles can add value, especially in demanding operating environments.”
Also attending the event is Suzuki South Africa’s Sales Controller, Mr. Oscar Mashava, who highlighted the importance of regional collaboration in building a sustainable industrial ecosystem.
“Our participation reflects our commitment to fostering partnerships that contribute to efficiency and innovation across Southern Africa’s mining sector,” he said.
Now in its 28th edition, Mine Entra continues to serve as a key platform for showcasing technologies and solutions driving Zimbabwe’s extractive and industrial value chains. The event runs alongside the Africa Infrastructure and Built Environment Conference and Expo (AfriConfex), which features a Buyers Programme connecting suppliers to major mining operations.
