The Avenues Clinic has reaffirmed its dedication to medical excellence by investing in state-of-the-art technology and enhancing patient care systems as it celebrates 42 years of service.

Speaking at the 2025 Doctors’ Appreciation ceremony held in Harare recently, the hospital’s medical director, Professor Godfrey Muguti said they continue to improve healthcare delivery through advanced medical equipment and strategic infrastructure upgrades.

Prof Muguti added that the hospital is relentless in pursuit of excellence, crediting its success to strong partnerships with doctors and investment in cutting-edge technology.

“As you might know, the hospital turns 42 this year, and much of our success is attributed to the strong partnership we have with you—our doctors,” he said.

“Your commitment, dedication, and the time you invest in our hospital to care for patients is invaluable. It is because of you that we continue to provide exceptional healthcare and deliver positive patient outcomes.”

As part of its latest developments, The Avenues Clinic has introduced laparoscopic towers in its operating theatres, a move set to revolutionise surgical procedures.

These towers support minimally invasive surgeries, reducing hospital stays and enhancing recovery times for patients.

In the neonatal unit, the adoption of Giraffe incubators has significantly improved the survival rates of premature babies.

Prof Muguti shared a remarkable case in which a baby born at 27 weeks thrived under specialised care, defying international survival odds.

The hospital’s emergency unit has also benefited from the addition of a mobile ventilator, allowing trauma-trained doctors to provide immediate critical care to patients in need of respiratory support.

The Avenues Clinic general manager Mrs Sibusisiwe Ndhlovu said the acquisition of the Cavitron Ultrasonic Surgical Aspirator (CUZA) machine enhances surgical precision, minimises blood loss and shortens operating times.

“As a hospital, we continue to improve our infrastructure and services to support your work and enhance patient care. These advancements align with our goal of win-win partnerships, ensuring that we collectively provide the best clinical outcomes for our patients,” she said.

Beyond technology, The Avenues Clinic is strengthening its clinical governance through its medical audit committee, ensuring that patient safety and high medical standards remain a top priority.

“Your hard work, expertise, and sacrifices are appreciated. This appreciation event is a testament to the deep respect and gratitude we have for you,” Mrs Ndhlovu said.

Doctors in attendance were presented with tokens of appreciation, recognising their vital contributions to the hospital’s ongoing success.
