A local aviation company Swiss Jet is set to honour the late music icon Leonard Dembo in a countrywide tour of music and fashion. Speaking to The Herald Entertainment, director of the organisation, Honor Moyo said they felt Dembo was a great musician who needed to be honoured. “His song ‘Chitekete’ was once played at Miss World and we felt it was part of the organisation’s policy to honour people who made great achievements,” said Moyo.
Recently, they had a fashion show during which they honoured Michael Jackson and Dembo when they displayed outfits that the musicians were identified with. “We have decided to take it country wide and we will be starting with Kariba, Mutare and Nyanga in March before we move to other places,” he said.
To him, honouring people with different abilities is the only way to motivate the society.
Tendai Dembo son of the late musician said he was happy that there are people who still recognise the work of his father. “It is encouraging and it gives us a challenge because people still respect our father’s work,” said Tendai.
He added that they will work with the organisation until they finish their countrywide tours.
“We will be performing at the events and we are committed until the day the tour ends. We are working to make sure fans get the real feel our father’s music,” he added.
