Axcil meets VP Mujuru

The 18-year-old is set to start prepa­rations for next season and yesterday Jefferies, accompanied by his mother Jolyn, had the opportunity to meet VP Mujuru at her Munhumutapa offices in the capital.
The Minister of Media, Information and Publicity, Webster Shamu, also graced the occasion.
“You know, I head the minister talk about it and we were actually reading a good story about yourself, seeing our colours being recognised.
“Yesterday we had our own Kirsty (Coventry) and today we have our own young man, that’s good, that’s wonder­ful.
“When you are doing this and you know you are on CNN, on BBC and you know you are on ZTV we are all watching,” said Mujuru.
Mujuru said it was good to see that the young generation was enjoying the fruits of independence.
“That’s all what independence is about, it’s all that we were talking about and that’s why you know when a baby is crying is looking for attention isn’t it and when you give it what it wants and it stays happy.
“We wanted people to know what we wanted and do what other people are doing and wherever you are going to be just know that my country is free, I have been freed and everybody is supporting you so you should be able to do your best.
“I am looking forward to seeing you being in Formula 1 and you can get there. I can see you are going to get there,” said VP Mujuru.
The Vice President noted that it’s good to see young people telling the true story about Zimbabwe.
“Publicising in newspapers and say we don’t do this, we don’t do that with­out actually showing it, it doesn’t do much good to us but to actually do it, show them we can do it and we can do better, all that we can do for ourselves.
“There is something in this country which we don’t know ourself which I think we want others to tell us that you people you are blessed with something that is not found anywhere from the world, ‘we are very proud.’
“And eventually when we see our own children saying the story for us it’s really a sign we should uphold,” added Mujuru.
The VP pledged her support to the young driver.
She also applauded Jefferies’ parents for supporting their son.
“I will be watching, I will ask the min­ister to keep reminding me, I will be watching.
“I think you are also giving us home­work to our children so that we don’t leave them alone and I have to thank you for that,” said Mujuru. Jefferies said he was happy with the support he has been receiving from his fans in the country and those outside Zimbabwe.
