B-Metro Comment: Refrain from using unconventional methods to win or enhance love

WHETHER we choose to believe it or not, relationships have always been enhanced or negatively affected by the use of either charms, potions and all kinds of spiritual interventions. Such is the nature of relationships.  However, it becomes very worrying if interventions meant to bring joy in a relationship result in grave torture for the ones who were meant to reap joy.

In our previous edition we carried a story of a woman whose philandering husband left her with no choice but to seek the services of a traditional healer who promised to use his spiritual prowess to bring him back home.

According to the woman, instead of the husband coming back to her, things took a turn for the worse and even when she consulted the healer, who assured her everything was in order, nothing worked out eventually.

She traces her problems to the concoctions that she was given by the healer.

Having endured a life that she is not proud of, she decided to open up on her sex addiction that she believes the herbs caused.

So serious is the problem that she has since lost count of the number of men that she slept with, sometimes several in a single day. She also fears she could have contracted sexually-transmitted infections and is even afraid to go for testing.

Our plea is for those that claim to have the know-how to come to the aid of the woman.

We have had many healers and prophets claiming and even advertising their services wherein they claim they can reverse spells, cast out bad spirits and all sorts. We believe this is a case that deserves their attention.

May the real healer/ prophet stand up and be counted. We also feel that the case of the woman, whose healer is now late, should be a lesson to all couples to refrain from using unconventional methods to win or enhance love.

We are aware that many will not agree with us, but it is quite painful to see a woman struggling to shake off what she believes she brought upon herself by seeking to rein in her husband.

We wonder how many others could be suffering in silence out there as a result of such interventions.

While we do not advocate for the breaking up of relationships over issues that can be resolved, we also believe that holding onto toxic relationships by whatever means could be unhealthy and have dire consequences. We believe genuine love needs no additives. . .
