BULAWAYO Athletics Board (Bab) have named their final squad for the national cross-country championships set for Harare next month. The team was finalised after two rounds of qualifiers at Nketa Park in Mpopoma and Luveve High School.
Bab boss Manuel Mpofu urged selected individuals to start their own preparations for the national finals.
“They can continue training as individuals since the championships are around the corner, we don’t have to relax, but we will also be conducting team sessions before we travel,” said Mpofu.
Mpofu is positive the team will produce a sizeable number of athletes for the Zimbabwe team to take part in the regional championships set for South Africa in March.
“We are the defending champions, last year we had five representatives and Isaac Mpofu won the men’s category, this time we are hoping to produce more to the national squad,” he said.
