MOROKA Swallows coach Zeca Marques says that former Warriors defender Gilbert Mapemba will be ready for Absa Premier Soccer League action next week.Mapemba was out of action for several months due to injury.
Mapemba’s contract expires in June but Marques is prepared to keep the former Caps United player for at least two more seasons as the negotiations continue.
Mapemba has been training at full throttle in the last two months hoping to return to first team action.
Marques said: “I have spent more time monitoring Mapemba’s movement with the ball and his fitness, right now what I can say is that the workaholic defender is more than ready to play.
“We haven’t played official games for sometime, I’m waiting for him and his position in the team is still available. We have tried several times to field different players but Mapemba is in a class of his own. He has been in the team for some time now and he understands the culture and system of our football.”
Marques described Mapemba as a team leader in the Dube Birds. He also said that the good thing about the Zimbabwean is that he has a winning mentality and is a team player who overlaps after communicating with his teammates.
