Jiti musician Baba Harare and award-winning Imbube ensemble Amaqaqa have joined forces on a new love song titled “Rese” – a joint that speaks about how a man’s life was transformed after discovering genuine love from his new lover.

The visuals for “Rese” (meaning “All” in IsiNdebele) were shot and directed by Afri Art Studios, and the video has garnered over 129 000 views on YouTube, in less than a week after its release.

Amaqaqa’s Mohau Ncube said the song is about finding true love after several heartbreaks.

“The song is about a guy who had given up, but after seeing this beautiful lady, he goes crazy as he finds genuine love. His new lovebird restores faith and hope, to a person who had already given up in love,” said Ncube.

He revealed that their partnership with Baba Harare was a manner of unifying people despite their tribal differences, as their joint venture proved that it’s possible for people to work together and achieve.

“Working with Baba Harare was wonderful. He humbly looked for us, and we agreed to work with him because he is a dedicated artiste who respects other creatives. We fused different cultures on this song and it came out perfect, a sign that when people work together, wonders can be made.

“On the video Baba Harare is dressed in traditional Ndebele attire. He even sang in Ndebele language, as he delivered his verse fluently. This promotes oneness between Ndebeles and the Shona people because we have seen that if we complement each other, love and peace can be attained,” said Ncube.

Meanwhile, apart from “Rese,” Baba Harare continued his deliberation to connect with his Bulawayo audience, as he teamed up with AmaPiano superstar Black Diva on a song titled “Abroad.”

On previous occasions, the dreadlocked chanter also featured Victoria Falls-based thespian Bruce Mutero on the hit “Prove them Wrong,” alongside Voltz JT.

This pattern underscores his commitment to amplifying voices from Matabeleland. – Follow on X @MbuleloMpofu
