BABA Harare’s camp says the US$10K gift he received from the family of property mogul, Alex “Mashwede” Mashamhamba, shows the singer now appeals to many people.
The Bikita-bred jiti singer got the present during Alick Macheso’s album launch at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex last Friday where he put on a vintage performance.
In an interview, Baba Harare said he was humbled by Mashwede’s gesture but could not open up more on how he was going to use the money.
“I was humbled by the gesture,” he said.
“We are in good books with Mr Mashwede, my home boy from Masvingo.”
He joked he was not going to disclose how he would spend the money for fear of being tracked by debt collectors.
His manager, Gift Petro, said he was humbled by how brand Baba Harare was growing with each passing day ever since he started running his business affairs.
“The gesture by Mashwede shows we are growing and we hope to build on that show of faith.
“The US$10k present is not the biggest he has received so far since other people have been donating stuff in some form of property and other things.
“There are also some who don’t do it publicly so we are happy that we still have nice people backing us,” he said.
Petro assured fans Baba Harare will not rest on his laurels after receiving the present.
“We are actually working on a new album that we hope to release soon.
“Baba Harare is committed to work and such people are hard to come by.
“I enjoy working with him because he is committed to his work,” added Petro.
