ZIMBABWE Prisons and Correctional Service Commissioner General Moses Chihobvu’s son-in-law yesterday celebrated his birthday with 15 babies incarcerated with their mothers at Chikurubi Female Prison.
Collen Abrahams and his family celebrated with the babies, who included nine girls and six boys, as well as female prisoners, who included Mai TT.
“I came to understand that imprisonment is a lesson for success,” said Collen.
“In prison, and out of prison, we share life experiences, but the time for each of us comes to face reality.

“Let’s prepare for a better future so that upon release we continue with our lives.”
Collen and his wife took time to listen to inmates’ concerns, and said although they don’t have power to convince ZPCS, they would forward the concerns.
Among the 268 inmates in the female prison, 128 were convicted and 140 are on remand.
There are four pregnant women and 21 foreigners, among them a Brazilian woman, who was acquitted months ago, but has no money to return to her home country.
