BABY DUMPED AT KHAMI PRISON Newborn found covered in branches near complex

A NEWBORN baby boy was found dumped and covered with tree branches near Khami Prison Complex in Bulawayo.

The tiny infant, believed to be just hours old, was discovered by members of the public on Wednesday, 24 July, and swiftly rushed for medical treatment.

Police confirmed the incident and said investigations have been launched into what they are treating as a case of exposing an infant.

In a post on X, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said: “The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating a case of exposing an infant, in which a newborn baby boy was found covered with tree branches near Khami Prison

Complex, Bulawayo. The baby was referred to Mpilo (Central) Hospital for further medical attention.”

It remains unclear who left the child or what circumstances led to the heartless act, but police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
