A SIX-WICKET masterclass from Dumoluhle “Dum’D” Dube powered Amakhosi Cricket Club 1 to a commanding 68-run win over Alexandra Cricket Club in the ongoing 2025 NPL T20 Blast at Masvingo Sports Club on Saturday.

Dube tore through the opposition with figures of 6/12 in 3.4 overs, the best bowling return of the tournament so far. His effort helped bowl out Alex for just 75 runs while chasing 144.

It was Amakhosi’s third victory of the campaign and their second on the bounce after beating Queens Sports Club at Bulawayo Athletic Club earlier in the week.

After being sent in to bat, Amakhosi posted 143/8 in their 20 overs before dismissing their opponents in 18.4 overs. Veteran batsman Brian Chari led the scoring with 24 off as many balls, while Tawanda Maposa and Tafara Mupariwa added 23 apiece off 14 and 26 deliveries respectively.

There were also useful contributions from Adrian Mupembe (16*), Bright Phiri (12), Ainsley Ndlovu (11) and Nkosibongwe Gogodo (11).

With the ball, Dube received solid support from Ndlovu, Prince Kaunda, Gogodo and Luyanda Mtoba, who each took a wicket.

For Alex, Vincent Masekesa impressed with figures of 3/10 in four overs and later top-scored with an unbeaten 21 off 21 balls. Faraz Akram and Takunda Manyama claimed two wickets each, while Manyama chipped in with 14 runs.

Dube’s early spell ripped through Alex’s top order. He bowled Muhammad Anas Aqil for five before removing Ahsan Aqil Ali and Aliakbar Hamid for two apiece. He then returned to clean up the tail, dismissing Nazim Patel (2), Victor Nyauchi (0) and Sean Marisi (0).

The result leaves Amakhosi with six points, two behind log leaders Takashinga Patriots 1, who beat Rimuka Cricket Club by five wickets.
