CAPS United coach Ian Bakala has ended four curses in the Green Machine’s last two fixtures following their 1-0 victory against Chicken Inn on Saturday.
Exciting midfielder, Kundai Benyu, netted the solitary strike to take his tally to two goals.
The Zambian gaffer floored Manica Diamonds on the road with a similar scoreline in his last match.
CAPS United had last recorded a victory in Mutare in the 2019 campaign.
Bakala also gave CAPS fans another reason to believe as he registered a win over a Gamecocks side they had last beaten during the 2018 season.
And, for the first time in this campaign, Makepekepe have recorded back-to-back wins.
It also marked the first time their defensive unit have recorded two clean sheets on the bounce.
It was Bakala’s fifth game in charge of the Green Machine.
Benyu was showered with money by CAPS United fans after the match.
His 64th minute goal demonstrated fine football intelligence as he ghosted into space and headed home a fine cross from Eric Manokore.
Bakala has injected a sense of belief into a team which looked lifeless before he took over.
“The boys’ mental strength has gone up a bit. They now understand the importance of the badge and that they need to fight for it, so it is progress,” said Bakala said after the match.
He has now managed eight points out of a possible 15.
Another big hurdle is waiting for Bakala as he prepares to take him men to Ngoni on Thursday for a date against leaders MWOS.
