Bakari on cloud nine

DYNAMOS’ Jayden “JB” Bakari, relieved the pressure which was mounting on the club’s newly-acquired strikers by becoming the first to find a goal.

He scored in the 2-0 win over CAPS United in the Harare Derby.

The new forwards had gone 580 minutes of action without any of them finding the target.

Nyasha Chintuli and Elie Ilunga remain without a goal since joining DeMbare during the transfer window.

Bakari, who was the club’s biggest signing, printed his name into the Harare Derby folklore in what was his second start of the season.

He had missed the opening fixtures due to the delays in the processing of his paperwork.

His first goal for the Glamour Boys did not only lessened the burden on his peers but also his coach Herbert “Jompano” Maruwa.

The gaffer had been defending them as they struggled to make an immediate impact.

And, Bakari ran to the touchline to celebrate with his coach.

“I was happy to make a mark on a big occasion and it’s what we dream of as strikers,” the 20-year-old forward told H-Metro.

“I’m grateful to my coach, who kept believing in me, and I felt like I owed him that goal that’s why I decided to celebrate that moment with him.

“I hope it’s the start of bigger things and, as strikers, we always set targets and it’s my wish to score as many goals as possible to help the team.”

He added.

“In football, there is always pressure to perform to the expectations of fans and I’m not impressed with how I have started this campaign.

“But, I’m still learning and it’s a new different environment considering where I’m coming from because Dynamos can’t be compared with Whawha.

“I believe I have the right coaches who can help me to become a better player.

“Everyone was at his best when we beat CAPS United and I believe our fans will be expecting the same energy levels when we face Triangle this weekend.”
