Baker’s Inn invests $60k in school construction

BREAD maker Baker’s Inn has invested about $60 000 in the construction of a secondary school in Mbalabala as part of its community development programme.

Baker’s Inn chief executive officer Mr Ngoni Mazango said the construction of the school was aimed at reducing long distances some pupils were travelling to the nearest secondary school in the area.

“Children were travelling more than 10 kilometres to the nearest school and we saw that there was a need to intervene. Different partners joined together to assist in the construction of the school and we are glad to plough back to the communities we serve.

“We have invested about $60 000 in the construction of the school. The Zimbabwe National Army approached us after being requested to assist by the community and we then partnered them in building the school,” said Mr Mazango.

He said the money invested was for building two classroom blocks.

Mbalabala Secondary School is situated a few metres from the Zimbabwe School of Infantry.

Mr Mazango said they were targeting to commission the school in January next year.
