Bambelela Arts Ensemble goes digital

Theatre group Bambelela Arts Ensemble has migrated from their traditional norm of showcasing their works through physical performances to the digital space.

The group is set to make its debut on radio today with a play that will be broadcast on ZBC’s Khulumani FM under the banner Bambelela Arts on Radio Project (BARP).

Bambelela Arts Ensemble project manager Witness Tavarwisa said they came up with the BARP concept following the Covid-19 pandemic that negatively impacted creative industries.

Tavarwisa said the programme is being supported by Culture Fund and the European Union.

“BARP is an adaptation of Bambelela Arts’ four acclaimed stage plays namely Naked Truth, Crying Games, The Wish List and Look Listen and Decide into a 13-episode radio drama. The project will run on Khulumani FM (95.0) every Friday from the 3rd of September to the 26th of November at 4:30pm.” — @mthabisi_mthire
