ZIFA Central Region Division One side Chapungu became the latest football club to partner bankers BancABC when they received a sponsorship package last night during a function at Manyame Airbase. BancABC, under their BancEasy division, sealed the deal through the division’s managing director Desmond Ali.
The sponsorship effectively began on August 20 this year and will run until the end of the season for the high-flying former Premiership side.
“Chapungu will receive a total of US$52 459 until the end of the season. Nearly US$23 135 should be used for allowances and winning bonuses for the players and technical staff,” said a spokesman for the club.
Chapungu also received a kit, training equipment and the bankers will also help in footing accomodation costs for away matches.
“The kits and accessories are worth more than US$22 000 and BancEasy will also pay for referees’ fees.”
Chapungu lead the Central Region with 57 points from 21 matches and are the only team with an unbeaten run in the league.
BancEasy also sponsor fellow servicemen Flame Lily, who are owned by the Zimbabwe Prison Services, and Black Mambas while BancABC have a partnership with Premiership sides Dynamos and Highlanders.
