Bank manager up for harassment

Beitbridge police have arrested Barclays Bank’s Beitbridge branch manager Tsikadzashe Shepard Maisiri for continuously harassing a female subordinate since May this year. Maisiri (47) is accused of making sexual overtures at one of the cleaners at the bank, who reported the matter to the police out of frustration. Maisiri pleaded not guilty when he appeared before magistrate Mr Trevor Nyatsanza yesterday on summons and pleaded not guilty to charges of indecent assault.

Mr Nyatsanza remanded Maisiri out of custody to November 23 for trial. Prosecutor Mr Oswell Arufandi told the court that sometime in May this year, Maisiri approached the woman and proposed love, but she turned him down. He said later in the same month, the man found the complainant cleaning the banking hall and slapped her buttocks. When the woman protested, Maisiri reportedly told her that she was missing out since he was loaded with cash. Mr Arufandi alleged that Maisiri also told the woman he would pay her more than her paltry salary should she give in to his demands.
