admininvestment banker in Australia, decided to turn to photography in pursuit of a more fulfilling career.
His photographs are currently on exhibition at the National Gallery in Bulawayo in Voices In Colour alongside Mthabisi Phili and Virginia Chihota.
Hunt (33) said he left banking in 2009 as he felt he needed a break and change the direction of his life.
“While it (investment banking) was rewarding financially there were too many pressures associated with it and the lifestyle did not suit me.
“In 2009 I decided to take a break and embarked on travels around the world which took me across Asia and Africa,” he said.
Hunt has travelled to countries such as Malawi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Burundi, Burma and India among other countries.
He took the photographs currently on show during his journeys through these countries.
Hunt has registered for a Masters in Fine Arts specialising in photography at the School of Visual Arts, New York, and will commence in September.
Hunt, who spent over six months in the country, said he will be making a return journey.
“I have visited several tourist resorts and I can say I am impressed by the natural attractions that Zimbabwe has. I also realised that what I have been reading in the international Press about Zimbabwe does not reflect the true picture on the ground,” he added.
Voices in Colour is an annual exhibition and was initiated by Phili in 2009. It has seen two successful visual art events being held at the National in Gallery Bulawayo – Voices in Colour (2009) and Blue
Pencil (2010).
The exhibition opened in early July and will run until the end of August.
