BANTU Rovers are back in the Premier Soccer League after agreeing terms to buy the Plumtree Chiefs franchise, impeccable sources have revealed. Tshintsha Guluva have once again opted for an easy way back to the Premiership having spent three seasons in Division One by buying the majority shares in Plumtree Chiefs.
The nature of the deal, however, remains hazy with officials of both clubs said to have spent yesterday in Harare sorting out the paperwork.
Bantu Rovers made their maiden top-flight appearance in 2009 after buying Mutare’s Eastern Lions franchise and were relegated at the end of the 2010 season.
The Plumtree Chiefs takeover was agreed on Friday and part of the deal will see at least 12 Chiefs’ players joining Bantu Rovers.
Both Bantu Rovers and Plumtree Chiefs are playing their cards close to their chests.
Officials from both clubs were in Harare yesterday to present their merger documents for processing to Zifa.
