BANTU Rovers stunned Technosphere 1-0 and drew 0-0 against Bulawayo Jumbos over the weekend in the Zifa Southern Region Division One Soccer League.The championship dark horses, Bantu Rovers, are yet to lose a match since Thulani “Thuts” Sibanda took over as head coach.
National Under-20 captain Nqobizitha Masuku’s solitary goal against Technosphere gave Bantu Rovers three points on Sunday.
However, Tshintsha Guluva failed to find the back of the net against army side, Bulawayo Jumbos on Saturday as the match ended nil all.
Bantu Rovers collected four points over the weekend to move to third position on the log standings with 39 points, trailing pacesetters Bulawayo Chiefs with 11 points.
Bantu Rovers gaffer, Sibanda praised the progress of the team since he took over.
“The fact that we haven’t lost shows the signs of progress and the team is responding well,” he said.
Sibanda said they have to work on finishing aspect if they are to keep tabs with championship favourites Bulawayo Chiefs and Black Boots.
“We have to work on the finishing part, that’s where we are coming short and we hope to take each game as it comes,” he said.
In other fixtures, second placed police outfit Black Boots defeated the Mark Mathe coached Zimbabwe Saints 2-1.
In the battle between top and bottom, star-stubbed Bulawayo Chiefs who are under the guidance of former national team coach Rahman Gumbo had a walk over against Rufaro Rovers.
Bulawayo Chiefs were awarded three points on three goals aggregate against the Hwange based log anchors that did not turn up for the match in Plumtree.
Rufaro Rovers have only managed to collect 13 points in 22 games. Hwange Juniors also walked away with three points against Mkhosana who did not show up for the match on Saturday. On Sunday, they were in action against Ajax and won 2-1.
